Fortress GB Provides Access Solutions at The Rose Bowl Cricket Ground

The Rose Bowl, home to Hampshire County Cricket Club is the latest in a string of high profile stadiums from across the UK to install the Fortress Smart Stadium Solution. The 22,000 capacity cricket arena has hosted some distinguished events ranging from county, to one day international matches. Most notably the Rosebowl has been selected to host a test match in 2011.
At present all of the stadium’s 20 turnstiles feature Fortress’ Smart Stadium access control module, making for an entirely automated entry system. Whilst construction is underway for a further 20 turnstiles, Fortress is providing an interim solution to manage the ingress of spectators around the stadium.
Using our Pocket Door package, personal digital assistants (PDAs) are being used to simulate turnstiles. With RF and Barcode reading capabilities, as well as Fortress’ Pocket Door Software, the PDAs are able to determine whether entry should be allowed and instruct the operator as to the correct course of action.
Spectators are able to enter the stadium through the use of either barcode paper tickets or Fortress’ multi-application smart cards. Hampshire County Cricket Club is currently distributing smart cards to its members in aim of building up their membership base.
Membership schemes benefit clubs tremendously and create a platform upon which a wealth of opportunities present; both for the fan and the club itself. They open up a multitude of services to include enhanced CRM systems, loyalty schemes, e-purse solutions as well as cashless stadiums.
Hampshire County Cricket Club is currently reaping the benefits of the Smart Stadium Solution. Access into the stadium through either simulated or real turnstiles, is now faster, more efficient and more secure.
