Fortress GB in partnership with Dimension Data have been selected to provide access control to two major South African stadiums. Both Green Point and Free State stadiums, which are set to host events during the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2010 competition, will feature Fortress’ Smart Stadium Solution, providing for an entirely automated entry systems into the venues.
Following the company's highly successful involvement in the UEFA Euro 2008 competition, Fortress GB will now install its access control module at all turnstiles around both
Stadium facts
Free State Stadium,
· Will play host to 5 of the 6 matches played in the first round of the tournament and 1 match in the second round.
· Has had its capacity upgraded to seat 48,000 spectators
· Will have 64 fully automated turnstiles
Green Point Stadium,
· Will host both quarter and semi final matches
· Has a capacity of 70,000
· Features 88 fully automated turnstiles
The system will ensure that entry into the stadium will be rapid, and smooth while allowing stadium managers the flexibility to make last minute changes to ticketing during match-days. Ticket office staff will also be able to monitor the flow of spectators into the stadium, and deny or block entry to fans as they deem necessary.
