Fortress GB is proud to be part of an Award Winning concept at Manchester City Football Club: the Manchester City FC MasterCard Contactless Prepaid SeasonCard was awarded the MasterCard 2007/8 Prepaid Award for Best Innovation and Technology last week.
Launched by MBNA, MasterCard and Altair Financial Services International Plc, the card is the first of its kind in Europe. Combining multiple applications from Fortress GB (contactless membership and access control) and MasterCard (both chip and pin and contactless payments), this ground breaking card enables the Manchester City FC members to use their card to gain access to the stadium, and purchase their halftime snacks onsite and outside the grounds. During the pilot, which lasted until the end of this season, approximately 3,500 ticket holders were able to pay by simply tapping their prepaid season card against a specific reader. Products like this bring both fans and retailers time and cost efficiencies in terms of speed, convenience and safety of contactless payment.
